Hello! I am a relatively new bilingual teacher in the inner city of Philadelphia. My students are mainly from hispanic backgrounds. While some have traveled to Puerto Rico and the Dominican, most lack an understanding of the world and other countries. For this reason and many others, my classroom is structured using a Project Based curriculum. One of my favorite projects was learning extensively about marine ecosystems. To close out the project, we traveled to the Baltimore Aquarium where each student recorded their observations on a particualar marine animal. We then displayed our research to the rest of the school by presenting a "live aquarium" in our classroom--complete with our class fish, pituffo. I've come to see that learning outside the classroom creates the most memorable learning experiences for our students!
