My students are from a suburb northwest of the city of Detroit. They are hard-working, inquisitive 8th graders who love to learn and have shown a curiosity and a hunger to learn about US History all year long. Our school is working hard this year to increase critical thinking and to make students' thinking visible. Reading this book along with completing the virtual field trip will help with both. My students are from diverse backgrounds and many will be able to visit Ford's Theater after reading Chasing Lincoln's Killer to see the actual location of this murder. Many of my students cannot afford the trip to Washington, D.C. with their classmates, this book and the accompanying virtual field trip will give them a sense of visiting the city and learning about important, historical sites.
