Our school in the city of Bath, Maine is grades Pre K - 2. These are wonderful, creative young students,with a little encouragement and guidance, are learning how to make choices and problem solve. Sometimes things don't go as planned in Art and you can have a meltdown and cry or you can figure out how to turn it into something else unexpected. This skill can help outside the art room as well. In and effort to save money and teach recycling to our students, we reuse or repurpose many items. We make paper and sculpture from the recycled paper. We use old cereal boxes and wallpaper samples to make a book cover. Many of our students are poor and I like to show them that you don''t have to buy expensive art supplies to be creative at home. I am very proud of how little our students waste.
