In aligning with the quote, “Your Library is Your Portrait”, our school needs to make a concerted effort to provide books in the library that are inclusive of ALL students, respectively. Students need to be able to see and read books where characters “look like them” “worship like them” and “feel like them.” Our library needs to have protagonists in all genres of books about diverse characters and/or written by diverse authors. This is not limited to, but includes: Disability, Ethnicity, Religion, Race, and LGBTQ. Authors are doing a much better job incorporating diverse characters into their books, and I want to get these titles into my students' hands.
