Since 88% of our students are economically disadvantaged and nearly 20% of our students have limited English proficiency, my co-teacher and I strive to provide our students with life experiences and basic skills while maintaining academic rigor. We have a near even split of race and ethnicity between whites and black/Hispanics. Offering our students opportunities to collaborate in STEM and STEAM activities is very motivating to them. They look forward to working together and seeing their entire grade level rather than only their section of the fifth grade.

About my class
