My students need to be challenged in math. A majority of my students are in need of learning basic number sense. My elementary students LOVE reading and have a high interest in books. I want to incorporate reading into my math lessons to capture their attention. I feel after I "hook" them on a new math concept, they need math manipulatives for activities to practice the new concept. My students do well in mathematics when they use hands-on learning. We are a title one school and many students that I work with need to build the foundational skills in mathematics. With math literature and manipulatives, I feel my students will be more successful in mathematics!
