Technology for Communication and Evidenced Based Learning My students need an iPad to facilitate learning opportunities throughout their day. My students have a range of communication disorders and deficits in language, articulation, cognition, hearing, and other areas. All of my students are preschoolers and more than half of my students have Autism. Many of my students are nonverbal or have limited verbal skills. My students are at a crucial age in their development during which time substantial development can occur when given a nourishing, stimulating, and safe environment. A typically developing 2 year old may have a vocabulary of around 200-300 words. By the time that child is 5 years old, their vocabulary has grown to over 2000 words. More than 50% of the students in my district are considered economically disadvantaged/low-income and many are refugees.
