My school is an urban school with a diverse population that includes a high number of special education students and students whose first language is not English. My classes are a representation of this diverse population. The one characteristic that all my students have in common is that they are full of potential. My students are in an advanced algebra class for 91 minutes every day. Unfortunately, many of their attention spans are not 91 minutes long and I find the need to include a variety of activities to keep them focused. My students love presenting their work and assuming the role of teacher. My students enjoy working in groups, using manipulatives, and creating posters of their work to display in our classroom.
