My students are real troopers. Our school is a beacon of hope to many of our students and the surrounding community. Many of our students lack many necessities that most take for granted. Our school makes a conscious effort to reach out to these students in an effort to show them a better way. They are tough, smart and very loyal if you are lucky enough to gain their trust. Most realize that education is the key they need to succeed, but they just need someone to believe in them. I always share this quote with them, "Faith is taking the first step even when you cannot see the entire staircase." Our school also urges students to participate in extracurricular activities in an effort to instill a sense of belonging, which also places our staff as more prominent role models in their lives.
