When you walk into my classroom you are embraced by 21 young scholars filled with excitement and a passion for learning. My students love having stories read to them, and they love being able to read stories that have inspired them to become stronger readers and writers. I teach my students that knowledge is power, and how becoming stronger readers will help them be successful in life. Many of my students aspire to become authors such as Mo Willems, Mike Thaler, Maurice Sendak, and Kevin Henkes because of literature they have been exposed to. In order to further their knowledge, they need to be exposed to as many authors as possible and develop the confidence to be stronger readers by reading level appropriate texts.
