My students are a caring and hard working group. I have never seen a group more eager to absorb information and experience new things. Books are their favorite. Everyday when they come into the classroom, they check out my easel to see what books we will be reading that day. After every read aloud, they are full of questions and waiting for a chance to discuss the story elements or the outcomes of their predictions. During literacy centers, there are plenty of books for them to look through, but only a handful of books they can independently read. Many of them are thirsty for more and a few just need a little push of encouragement. Having a library that fosters successful independent reading will meet each student at their current level and help them grow into a reader always searching for more.
