Third grade is a precious time where the love of learning feels like an adventure every day. My students encounter this special adventure when they pick up a new book and can't take their eyes off of each page. Since my students live well below the national poverty line and are English language learners, they rely heavily on the books that our school can supply for them. Our school and classroom library don't have enough copies of their favorite series books to help them find out what happens to the main characters in the next chapter book. My students don't want to let their beloved books go that they will keep the same book in their book bag for a few weeks. It saddens me to witness this.
