Our hard working learning community needs alternative seating. Research shows alternative seating increases student engagement and the student's sense of well-being as they have a choice of where to complete their work. The students will have a choice of where to sit when completing small group, partner, as well as independent work. I have chosen the stools, which will be used when I am teaching two small group reading intervention lessons daily (45 min block). The intervention reading group that I am not working with will have the choice to use the yoga ball, the floor cushions, or the Sofa Sack while they complete their independent work. My homeroom learning community will have the ability to sign-up for their choice of alternative seating when completing their independent or partner work in reading and math daily. Our learning community members value their power of choice as they know what works best for them!
