Many of our students are from low income families and are eligible for free school lunches. To be able to provide all of them with equitable access to graphing calculators will continue to greatly improve their success on the AP Exam. The calculator is used as a teaching and learning tool as well as a problem-solving tool. About 40% of the AP Exam is calculator based, and students need to be proficient in the use of a graphing calculator to solve the questions. That is why a class set of graphing calculators will support my students greatly in their success in the course and their preparation for the AP Exam. Besides the AP Calculus AB and BC courses, I also teach the Pre-Calculus course. The use of graphing calculators in this course will also benefit the students greatly.
