I would like to create an atmosphere where my students can have fun without realizing that they are actually learning crucial reading skills at the same time. In my 30 years of teaching, I have repeatedly heard that ELA is the class that students hate the most because they just don't like to read. I want to change this stigma by having bi-weekly Glo Parties to motivate and excite my young scholars.
I believe that this approach will help students build confidence and feel successful, which, in turn, will increase comprehension skills and boost morale. I am asking for the black lights and bulbs to illuminate my room where students can use highlighters to complete their assignments in a glowing, fun way. The laminating film is to makes task cards and other consumable materials easy to sanitize between each class period and to reuse year after year. The decorations are to create an aesthetically pleasing climate. I love my students and only want the best for them. They deserve some fun after living through a pandemic, two major hurricanes (Laura and Delta) that wreaked severe damages to our area and school, as well as an ice storm, all within one year of their lives.
