As a new first grade teacher, my collection of books is lacking in titles that meet the needs of budding readers. Children need to begin by reading books that are interesting and engaging, yet challenging and manageable. I have requested a selection of books that fill the gaps in my library. Every child deserves the opportunity to find what inspires him or her. Reading Workshop encourages a love of reading and gives individual students the support they need. The ultimate goal is to create a life-long passion for reading. In order to successfully implement this program, we need to have a leveled classroom library so students can select books that are “just right” for their interests and abilities. My goal is to build a community of readers, but we don’t have enough books to help them! Please make a donation to our class today.
