I teach in a low socioeconomic school and unfortunately, many of the children that come through my room don't have basic supplies. At their age, I have to come up with exciting ways to get them to learn and not realize they are learning. Many of the students I have do not read at grade level and have difficulty learning how to figure out what they are comprehending when they read. We have practiced many skills this year to help them with their reading. I have never seen so many students that are excited to be reading about things that happen in the past and what is going on in the present.
