The carpet will make a difference in the classroom. We can sit together on the carpet as I read aloud a book. Many times sitting together on a carpet is so much more inviting and it gives the students a sense of a safe warm environment. It will provide students with a comfortable space to read. The students can sit or stretch out on the carpet as they enjoy reading. The carpet is not just for reading but to learn to work cooperatively with others. The space will allow students an opportunity to build their learning of not just reading but all subjects as well. A carpet may not seem a necessary thing for a second grade class but the students will love to be able to use the learning space and will thrive.
