I teach in a Title I school in Kansas City, KS. My school is located in a community with no ethnic majority and there are over 70 languages represented in the district where I teach. I teach English Language Arts to 9th graders at my school and the vision for their year is to create a significantly different experience of school than they have had from 1st-8th grades. I focus on project-based learning and cross-curricular instruction so that students see the strong connections between all of their classes and curricula. My dream for the classroom is to create a space where all students feel safe, comfortable, and capable of pursuing their learning goals.
