Next school year, we are creating a student empowerment course that will help my students identify who they are as person, and what impact they can bring to the world. My students come from diverse backgrounds, and are very aware of the social justice changes going on right now. They are delighted to be the game changers of their era. Our school does work with anti-racism and helping students and teachers understand bias and making changes to halt the biases that exist in our school and in our school system. My students are super excited to a part of this new course and would love to have their own copy of the book. Due the Covid-19 regulations that my school district has, each student must have his or her own book that they can keep. The book, "This Book is Anti-Racist" by Tiffany Jewell has several topics for the students to explore such as identity, making sense of the world, and so much more. As a result of reading and participating in the activities of this book, my students will gain a sense of empowerment that will help them feel more confident in all aspects of their life.
