My third graders are a great group of kids, who really want to do well in school. While they have a desire to learn, a good number are more passive about their learning experience and really need to be actively engaged during instruction. Our school has evolved from a rural community school to a small suburb community school. Our school system literally came into existence just this year with the dissolution of a larger system.
