My students are in the 4th grade at an inner city school where the poverty level is through the roof. My students are coming from shelters, run down apartment buildings, and being bounced from house to house. The only constant thing in their lives is school. They do not have access to materials that other students their age have, they do not live on IPADS or cell phones. They are students hungry for an education and one that is meaningful to them and engaging. Seeing my students be able to manipulate a tablet or a kindle would be absolutely fascinating. Once you have their attention, there is no stopping them. They will become more successful readers and have a better chance to make something of themselves and for them to have access to tablets and kindles would change their lives forever.
