My students are non English speakers with autism. They are eager learners who do not understand the world around them unless it is taught in ways that meet their vast needs. Visual support is a key part of my planning to help my students meet their IEP goals. There is a home/school connection where I send visuals home to help support their learning at home. My school community is filled with visual cues to help students throughout the day. There are visuals for things like lining up, walking down the stairs to enter the cafeteria and set a menu to indicate what they would like to eat for lunch using a picture schedule.
