My students will use the Osmo system during learning center time. Each center has 5-6 students at each activity. The Osmo attaches to an iPad and uses the camera to see how students use the manipulatives. Students will use the iPad either individually or in pairs. I already have iPads in my classroom, so this will only give them extra experiences with technology. This device will give students the opportunity to learn phonics through the word game. While using the tangram game, students will be enhancing their spacial reasoning skills. They will also learn how to draw which improves their small motor skills. The Newton program, provided from using Osmo, introduces student to physics. Donations for this project will give students the opportunity to use the iPad in a more meaningful way. Students will become better critical thinkers and will be able to interact with their peers in a way that fosters shared learning. My students will gain a better understanding in reading, math, and physics.
