Kindergarten students need to be creators rather than consumers. The possibilities are as endless as my students' imaginations! Our classroom primarily needs materials that will enrich our literacy curriculum while preparing students with 21st century skills. In the 2015-2016 school year my students worked on STEM projects such as coding on the tablet and creating roller coasters in science center. In the 2016-2017 school year my students worked with programmable robots and connected old favorite storybooks to engineering projects. This year my classroom focus is on growing a library of books that my students can select and read independently. I would also like to increase choice and engagement for students through play-based science and social studies centers that integrate community, problem-solving, and culture.
