In addition to growing up in a low-income community, my students are struggling in school because of a language issue. However, they know that proficiency in multiple languages will be extremely valuable for them as they get older. Despite the difficulties they face academically, my students are extremely hardworking and eager to learn. My younger students get excited when they finally sound out a word correctly. The older students celebrate speaking in full, grammatically correct sentences and being able to comprehend complex texts. I have seen great progress in all of my students, and they continue working to improve their English every day. Moreover, I began the year with 11 ELLs and now have 17 enrolled in the program, plus a few students who are about to begin the enrollment process. These tablets will be used to support my school's growing ESL population.
