My students love listening to reading. It is so important that kindergarten students be exposed to a variety of books and be able to actively listen to the books in order to aid in comprehension. When my students have headphones that they can use while listening to books, distractions will be minimized, enabling my students to focus all their attention on the book. Listening to reading is one component of becoming a fluent reader--building words is another an integral part. When my students have a set of magnetic letters to use to spell sight words and CVC words, as well as games to play, learning to spell and read simple words becomes fun. Because we cannot share manipulatives, it is important that each student have their own set of letters to use during literacy centers. Playing with words is one of the best ways for students to learn to read, and I know my students will enjoy the fun games during literacy time. With new headphones, letters and games, my students will be on their way to becoming avid readers! Thank you for your support.
