My school lies nestled in the middle of a community made of blue collar workers. The school is classified Title I and my students come from poverty households. In addition, the majority of my students speak English as their second language. The status of poverty often limits my students exposure to opportunities that middle-class children otherwise may experience. The combination of learning English is a double whammy. My school mission is to teach them all, learning for all. I recognize the challenge to meet the physical needs of each student and next I am passionate to invest in relationships with them. Most of my students do not have material possessions, they've never traveled outside the city limits, but they do have family and friends. My students relish a lively tale and when given the time, crave sharing the happenings of their lives. Daily, I listen to my students share stories about their lives and I aim at the target of enlarging their life experiences and world view.
