My students are tired of the synthetic syllabus and tired old textbooks. The research is clear. Reading is the quickest and most motivating path to successful language acquisition in any language. Students have frequent contact with comprehensible input, vocabulary, and it is motivating. Students feel good about themselves when they can read a real book in Spanish. I want to incorporate more Free Voluntary Reading in our curriculum, but I need more texts to do so. I currently only have a few sets of books that are highly requested, but not enough for 125 students. We would appreciate more choice and more copies so that everyone can have a chance to read in Spanish!
