My students are very eclectic. They come from many different backgrounds. The school is in a rural community. There are not a lot of options for entertainment in the area surrounding the school. These students work hard, even when they are not in school. Many live on farms or have after-school jobs. They have been sheltered in many ways. I feel as though reading is the best way to introduce them to different cultures around the world. The last project funded by Donor's Choose was, "The Outsiders," and this book was a big hit with them. I'm hoping this next project will spark their love of classic literature, as well.
