My classroom, or rather, my softball field, is a place where students full of hope and determination gather. No matter the circumstances, my students come out every day ready to work! Through softball my students are learning to be ambassadors for themselves and their teammates. This game is teaching them the importance of hard work and is opening their eyes to what is possible when you set your mind on a goal. I coach girls softball in an urban Texas high school district where I also teach. This school is a Title 1 school, serving a population of 96% Hispanic, with the entire school receiving free or reduced price lunch. To many of my students, school is a safe haven and a gateway to a better life. I work every day building confidence, tenacity and ambition through coaching. Your donation will give me the resources to extend my reach and give these girls a positive after school activity.
