I am extremely lucky to work as an elementary school librarian. I get to see every student in the school and create hands on projects that coordinate with classroom curriculum. The students at my school are from the inner city of Syracuse, New York. We strive to meet the needs of our student population that has a variety of academic, emotional and social development gaps. Our students shine when given learning opportunities that allow for instant feedback and have real world applications. The library is the place in our school where students can work on projects that enable them to develop life skills without feeling that they are being tested or graded. This enables students to view learning as an opportunity by removing the fear of failure. My goal is that students will learn that persistent problem solving will lead to eventual success in all avenues of life.
