Students will participate in a unit that revolves around other children and teenagers that they can relate to. I am hoping that they will come to enjoy reading in school by having access to different texts that are considered highly engaging in the teaching world. Most importantly, I want my students to see themselves in the stories they read. I know this will give them a newfound motivation to read, which is so exciting and something I am greatly hoping for! Through this unit, students will participate in differentiated learning activities, including (but not limited to) fun activities like jigsaws, group work, and games. They will use our one-to-one technology to create a project as part of the school's project-based learning requirement. And last but not least, they will get to discuss their thoughts and feelings in relation to what we read and make connections to their own world.
