Whether they are identifying a suspect of a crime scene or determining hereditary genetic factors, analyzing DNA has become an essential component of health care professionals. Students aspiring to enter a health profession are increasingly required to have this knowledge and skills base. The newly created Biomedical Program at SHS wants to train its students with technology and equipment that the health industry today uses to create DNA fingerprints. During the first year of Biomedical Science, students use gel electrophoresis, Sybr Safe stain and the transilluminator to determine if a fictitious person has the familial hypercholesterolemia gene. We hope you will help.
