AKMS is a Title I Seattle public school. It serves a diverse, high poverty community; 84% of its 730 students qualify for free or reduced-fee breakfasts and lunches. There are over 26 languages spoken by students, and at least 50% of the students are from families whose first language is not English. The students are engaged in their learning on a daily basis. They have goals and dreams for what they want to do after high schools. The incorporation of technology is critical to help meet these goals. Currently technology is limited to literacy and math classes. Science would like to include the use of technology in its classrooms to help increase students access to information and STEM experiences.
