The population at our school is extremely diverse. There is a large population of English Language Learners as well as students from many different nationalities. The school is located within a district with a high percentage of students that are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Despite many of these challenges, the students are eager to learn. Our school boasts some of the highest test scores in the district. In recent years, our fifth grade team has been rotating students for more focused instruction, which has added to the excitement of learning for many of our students as we help to prepare them for middle school. In addition, as our team has implemented the Common Core State Standards the students have enjoyed reading and analyzing novels. This has led to greater excitement about reading and deeper understanding of the content.
