This project will help my students explore one of the biggest spectacles and most exciting cultural phenomena of Mardi Gras...the Black Masking Mardi Gras Indians. The requested items will be used to sew beads and pearls upon white fabric with beautiful rhinestones and bright, beautiful sequin. During the current school year, I would love to create a Mardi Gras Indian Suit with my students. The suit will be on display for all to admire. As an art teacher, I am constantly striving to find new ways to excite and inspire my students. In Mardi Gras history, Carnival has only been canceled three times. Last year, Covid-19 was the reason. I want my students to regain this experience by creating a suit. I want this project to be the best art experience with a wider variety of materials and more opportunities for their art to be shared and appreciated. Through this experience, I want them to gain confidence, creative growth, and a love of diverse cultures.
