The students are drawn to the Junior ROTC program sometimes for a desire to be exposed to the military lifestyle to see what it is like. Most however, join to learn leadership skills that are applicable to any walk of life, and the purpose of the program is to build citizens of character. The various aspects, academic, fitness and marching all complement each other to allow the students to earn academic credit like any other class while exposing them to a broad array of team building in the classroom as well as through physical challenges to learn how to lead and be part of a team. Our program is in its first year and we expect it to grow rapidly. The students are from a wide range of backgrounds and they immediately learn to be adaptable and is greatly beneficial to students of all abilities.
