My students are within the bottom 5% academically in the state of Illinois. My students belong to a high-poverty, low income public school in the inner city of Peoria. We are a Title I school with breakfast and lunch provided for the students at no cost to the families. Many of our students overcome barriers everyday such as disabilities, language, and everyday basic needs. Naturally, this would be a challenge for any student, but even more so when the students lack the proper academic support to be successful in any school setting.
