As the art teacher, I meet with close to 700 students each week, ranging from kinder to 6th graders. Since we have not had an art program in the past, many students are struggling with basic skills such as cutting, gluing, drawing, and mixing paints. The exciting part of art class is watching my students be able to master new skills while using their imaginations to create interesting and unique works of art. Since my district serves a high poverty population, school is often the only place students are able to experiment with drawing, painting, and other art techniques. My students are blossoming as artists, and finding new and creative ways to express themselves.

About my class
