Diverse books offer readers “windows and mirrors”, a chance to discover themselves and others, through rich and beautiful stories. The books in this project will be shared with students as a way to honor, understand and celebrate our identities. These books will help teachers in kindergarten through 5th grade launch important lessons and conversations about history, equality, race and humanity. Students will gain multiple perspectives as they learn about and celebrate ways we are the same and ways we are different. Books will be shared through whole class and small group instruction.
