My students are amazing! Each one is unique in their own way and have so much potential. At such a young age they are forced to deal with such adversity, yet they attend school each and every day. Most of my students are born into poverty-stricken areas of the South Bronx, and a large percentage live in shelters. It is all too common to hear that a single parent, grandparent or foster parent is raising them. Our school is a District 75 Specialized School that services grades K-8. Each student has an Individualized Education Plan to help them succeed. Most of our students have intellectual, adaptive, and emotional disabilities. We provide a plethora of services and a multisensory approach to help students access the curriculum. Our PBIS team has developed a comprehensive system that rewards students for successfully meeting school expectations each day. We teach our students to be safe, take responsibility, have a positive attitude, and respect others in school, on the school bus and in life.
