My students are energetic and curious students. Most of them have never played an instrument before. Even with so little background knowledge, their interest to play music is very high. My students are extremely determined. They come in at lunch, before school, and after school to get a chance to play an instrument. Some students even try to come in and play during their passing periods, which is only 5 minutes. But when I only have two pianos, students often times rush in only to see that the instrument is already taken. I am constantly trying to expand my program to give my students more opportunities in music. The skills you gain in making music is something you can take with you and build on for the rest of your life. Every student should have the chance to see what making music is like.
