  • Prizes for Our Prize Vault

    Funded Mar 13, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations. The prizes help increase student motivation to complete classwork in a timely fashion. Students are also rewarded for staying on task, showing strong effort, and thoroughly editing their assignments. My students are thrilled to earn prizes from our prize vault on a weekly basis. I chose to purchase prizes that are not only fun for the students but also useful in the classroom. Our most popular prize vault items are scented highlighters, squishy gummy bear pens, eraser characters, and scented bookmarks.

Again, thank you so very much. My students and I appreciate you.”

  • Color Our Classroom

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to our third grade classroom. The students were so excited when everything arrived and we unboxed all of the new items. All of the kiddos were thrilled to see all the items. They couldn't believe that people from around the United States would donate to us without even knowing us. The students were so proud to decorate our classroom and make it reflective of us. You are truly making a difference in my students' lives. We are thrilled and grateful that you decided to give to our classroom.”

  • Organizing Our Library and Celebrating Our Diversity

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation. With this project we were able to get our library up and running again. Students were super excited to see all of our new book pockets and labels. Now students can easily read the labels, select their own levelized books, check out and reshelf their own books. They no longer need to wait for me to help them figure out which book level is appropriate for them. This increases the number of books that students read. They are so proud of how far they have come. And that my friends, makes my heart sing!”

  • Multicultural Books for Our Diverse Classroom

    Funded Jan 12, 2022

Thank you for your generous contribution to our classroom library. Students were truly ecstatic to check out the new biography titles as well as the books by ethnically diverse authors. They were especially impressed by Ruby Bridges' bravery at such a young age.

Many of our new books feature rolemodels from diverse backgrounds who positively impacted our world. Students have enjoyed reading and exploring our books, and now we are using these books to write biographies about important people and their contributions.”

  • Making Memories Last: Memory Yearbook

    Funded Nov 18, 2021

Thank you for funding this wonderful keepsake project. My students and I have been busily organizing their years work into a beautiful memory keepsake for their families to cherish for years to come. Students feel so proud when they complete writing and art pieces! They excitedly place it in their memory book folder. Along with their masterpieces, students also included a title page and a dedication page to their families.

Students were absolutely thrilled to see their work in an actual bound book. The look on their faces was priceless!”

  • The Bare Necessities

    Funded Jul 30, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom project, Bare Necessities.

My students have benefitted immensely from your generosity. Students have been using the binders to store their multiplication progress, numerous writing samples, and a variety of colorful art projects. Any time students complete something they are proud of, they excitedly place their work in their binders. The folders and notebooks are not only keepsakes of their academic progress and growth, but they are also helping students learn valuable life skills of keeping their work accessible and organized.”

  • Collaboration Through Fun Team Building Activities

    Funded Jul 23, 2021

Thank you for all that you do, you are truly changing lives. After the difficult spring 2020, and the entire 2020-2021 school year, students were unable to participate in in-person learning, their social skills were lacking and it showed. Thanks to you, we were able to purchase a variety of items that enabled students to work together in fun and meaningful ways. Students collaborated on parachuting bean bags for their teams. None of my students had ever used a parachute. You should have seen the expressions of joy and excitement on their faces! We also did relay races with the catch cups. The kids loved this activity! They bonded with their teams and had such a great time. They are back to being social butterflies and definitely not lacking in their socialization skills.”

  • Color Our World

    Funded May 4, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing to this project. My students absolutely, without a doubt LOVE having a color printer. We've been able to print classroom resources in full color. Their colorful name tags look beautiful alongside their full color photographs, and their very own short stories and illustrations. Even some of my most reluctant writers were excited to publish their work. What's funny, is that once I printed their published pieces, they immediately wanted to take it home to share their work with their families. I had to break the news, "We are going to display your work on our writing wall for at least a week before you can take it home". One student actually said, "I don't think I can wait that long!"

He had me smiling from ear to ear!”

  • Calling All Scholars... Calling All Scholars...Connecting...

    Funded Mar 17, 2021

Oh my goodness, thank you from the bottom of my heart! This year was by far the most challenging year of my entire career. We asked students to connect via online platforms, complete assignments, and work collaboratively from their homes. I requested materials that would make my job a little easier, and learning more fun for my kiddos. You willingly answered my request. The materials I ordered made my life easier and made standards more fun and accessible for the students. Students were capable of using colorful and digital templates to tailor their class presentations. They were so proud of their accomplishments and being able to effectively use technology.”

  • Fire Up Our Math!

    Funded Jan 13, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. I truly appreciate your contribution that made it possible for students to use amazon fire tablets in our classroom. Students have had the opportunity to practice their math fact skills utilizing several of the amazing math apps available to students. Students have recorded themselves reading and are able to analyze the fluency of their reading. You cannot even imagine the growth that I have seen because of this simple capability. Students appreciate the portability of the tablets and are eager to practice their math and reading skills everyday!”

My students are a lot like me as a child, 83% of my third graders come from Spanish only speaking households, where English is only heard when flipping through the channels until Univision is reached, or when turning the radio dial. 95% of my third graders receive free lunch, 5% receive reduced lunch. Many of my students come from loving immigrant homes, where parents are filled with high hopes and aspirations for their children, despite their own low levels of education. Moving beyond the barrio seems impossible. Thus, many of these children come to school with very limited conversational English, and little to no academic English. William Temple once said, " The most influential of all educational factors is the child's conversation in a child's home." As a teacher it is my responsibility to teach student academic English. This is a daunting, yet achievable task. These non-fiction informational books will be another avenue through which students will be exposed to academic English.
