These magazines will make a difference in my students' learning by enriching their experience. They will practice close reading, comprehension and critical thinking skills while staying informed about current events. The magic is in how this resource brings several aspects of learning into one. Through their gained practice and knowledge of current events, students will apply their skills by engaging in meaningful socratic seminars about the issues that affect their lives. They will go a step further by evaluating the connections between past events and current events. My students are a dynamic group and they benefit from peer interactions. The way in which this resource presents the news is valuable in that it relates the significance and impact on their lives.
