My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are from well-educated, affluent families while others are from the low-income housing area of our town. We also have students who are new to the United States. Family units range from students living with both parents, a single parent, grandparents, a relative, a guardian or foster parents. Many of our students are involved in community sports such as football, soccer, tennis, swimming, baseball, softball and cross country. We are fortunate that our school building is a landmark in the community, having served as a college, high school and now as a middle school. Our school is located atop a hill with a beautiful, park like campus. Because of the age of our building, many of our students are sitting in class where their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles once sat! This year our school wide focus is on improving literacy. We are planning many exciting events for our students to celebrate their success.
