I am writing this grant for my second graders in a rural school in central Illinois. Our school has over 50% poverty rate, therefore many of our children don't get to go to museums or even leave our small town of 5,000. Therefore we, the teachers, need to bring the world to our small town. Even though we are a rural district with a high poverty rate, our teachers work hard to bring out the best in the students. Our school is considered a Blue Ribbon School, which means we have been recognized by the Department of Education for achieving superior standards of academic excellence. There are only 157 public schools in Illinois which have received this honor. Part of the reason we have this award is because we are resourceful and look outside of the box for projects and funding. By funding this project, you will help me continue to give my students academic excellence.
