I teach the entire fourth grade student body at our school. I feel this year that I have too many students who are not performing at the level we need them to in math. They have so many gaps in their learning and I am doing my best to reach every child. These students are economically disadvantaged, free and reduced lunch candidates and special needs students. The majority of these students are missing foundational pieces of math. While using the Ipads there will be many standards where the students can practice and relearn their basic skills they are lacking. My students who struggle will benefit the most with teaching videos, manipulatives to aid in math, and read aloud for students struggling to read in one app called Front Row. The Xtramath app will encourage practicing their multiplication and division facts. I would utilize the Ipad in a rotation so students in every class could benefit. I feel that technology with my students is a rarity, the Ipad would be a true motivator.
