I work in a Title 1 community school. The students I work with are behind in their academic studies. 80% of my students come from homes where English is not their first language and their parents are unable to help them learn to read. Most of my students don't own a book and only have access to them from the school library. The majority of my students do not finish reading the books they borrow from the library. Our school works very hard to help the students learn to love reading and writing.
