The Covid pandemic has increased the use of technology in my classroom which allow students the ability to access science lessons both at home or school. Incorporating more digital learning platforms in my classroom, my super scientists can gain knowledge related to our 6th grade science standards using a variety of digital platforms such as videos and simulations. The increased use of chromebooks has demonstrated the importance of having the appropriate technology accessories to ensure learning is not disrupted, and the students can stay engaged during the lessons. If all students had access to new headphones and a wireless mouse, then it would allow my super scientists to be successful in the new age of digital learning. In the classroom, students have access to many digital learning platforms that require listening to a video. Many students are unable to afford appropriate headphones, so they struggle when completing the video assignments online. The new headphones would allow all students to be successful and engaged during the video lessons. The headphones would also be beneficial to learning disabled students that need the read aloud options on their science lessons. Due to the increased use of chromebooks, I have several chromebooks that the touchpad no longer works correctly. The wireless mouse would eliminate the stress of the touchpad not working on chromebooks. It would allow students to effectively move objects around when completing digital activities such as Google Slides and Google Docs. It would also be beneficial to have a wireless bluetooth speaker to use during whole group instruction, so all students can hear adequately in the classroom. Overall, new headphones, wireless mice, and a digital bluetooth speaker would help my super scientists in my classroom to be successful in the new digital age of learning.
